Most Successful Immigrant

The other day I was reading a Business Week article about the list of the world’s most successful immigrants.  They ranged from Google’s co-founder to Warren Buffet’s blue eyed boy from India. Their success seemed to inspire me. As I continued reading, I thought to myself who does not want to be successful? Everybody wants to win!

Coming to America or to a new country is not easy. On top of that making a success in the new country as an immigrant is another dimension. As an immigrant to USA for twenty one years, I can totally relate to the struggles that an immigrant faces in a new country. I am sure that these successful immigrants worked hard against all odds.  These guys must be smart, intelligent and most importantly had key opportunities knock on their career doors at the right time.  Unfortunately for many immigrants or even local natives, such career success is like a distant star in the sky.

However, have you considered the challenges for the land that you will be entering into after this life on earth? Will you be a successful immigrant to the life after this life on earth?

Our life on this earth is temporary. We are neither citizen nor are we permanent residents on this earth. Death is inevitable for every human being. One day we will leave this earth for good. Every person born on this earth will one day become an immigrant into a life after death. After this life on death, we will be either with God in heaven or without God. Many think that access into heaven or eternal life requires us to work hard, be smart or be lucky like these successful immigrants. Some believe that if we do good works, or if we kill some infidels, or if we go through six hundred thousand cycles of rebirth then we will attain heaven or moksha.

Unfortunately, all those who claimed any of these beliefs or theories have lived and died, but never came back to confirm what they said was true. Only when one conquers death, can we believe their claims of life after death to be true.

In the history of mankind there has been only one person who died, came back from death and confirmed his words to hundreds of people. He told them to tell this good news to others, so that when He comes back he can take all who believe in Him to his eternal kingdom.

However, to become a citizen of this kingdom does not require us to do anything. Jesus has already paid the price for all mankind on the cross with His life. All we need to do is believe in Him -and only Him. No other person or god can save mankind from eternal death.

And it is that simple!!  Romans 8:16-17 tells us that all who are in Christ are co-heirs to his kingdom – that means we will be ruling as Kings with Jesus in eternity. That will indeed make you the most successful immigrant for eternity and we will be living like a King. But this success is not limited to ten or twenty people like here on earth, but it is open for all who are in Christ. When we accept Jesus through the forgiveness of our sins and consider Him as our Savior, the Bible tells us we become fellow citizens. Ephesians 2:19 (NIV) Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,

Today I have the assurance through Christ that I will be one of the most successful immigrants in heaven!

How about you?
